Honk App Family Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 15, 2025
Last Updated: May 10, 2026
Privacy Version: 2.0

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Honk ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information across the Honk app family, including Honk Flocks, Honk Promises, Honk Studio, and future Honk sister apps that use the shared Honk account system.

1.2 Shared Family Backend

The Honk app family uses a shared Firebase backend, shared Firebase Auth accounts, and shared Firestore documents. This means one account, profile, Friends graph, subscription or entitlement status, notification-addressing data, and Terms acceptance status may be used across multiple Honk family apps.

1.3 Data Controller

The data controller is Honk, located in Finland. You can contact us at support@honkapp.eu.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Account and Profile Information

2.2 Friends and Shared Status Data

2.3 App-Specific Content and Usage Data

2.4 Device, Notification, and Technical Data

We may collect device type, operating system, app version, locale, timezone, notification tokens, push-delivery metadata, IP-derived approximate location, crash or diagnostic data, and security logs needed to operate and protect the Service.

2.5 Purchase, Subscription, and Entitlement Data

To provide paid features, we process purchase and subscription status data such as product identifiers, entitlement identifiers, renewal or expiration status, transaction identifiers, purchase timestamps, and restore-purchase status. Payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive your full payment card number or full bank details.

2.6 Third-Party Sign-In and Integrations

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive account information needed to authenticate you. If you connect optional integrations, such as developer webhooks or creator tools, we process the information needed to provide that integration.

3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

3.1 Service Operation

3.2 Safety, Security, and Abuse Prevention

We use information to detect and prevent spam, fraud, abusive behavior, unauthorized access, safety misuse, false alarms, and violations of our Terms.

3.3 Paid Features and Entitlements

We use purchase and subscription data to verify access, enable paid features, restore purchases, prevent fraud and abuse, provide customer support, and maintain required accounting, tax, and legal records.

3.4 Improvement and Support

We use information to maintain, debug, improve, and support the Service, including responding to support requests and understanding which features need reliability or usability improvements.

4. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING

4.1 Contractual Necessity

We process information when it is necessary to provide the Service you request, including account access, Friends, Honks, Flocks, Promises, Studio tools, subscriptions, and support.

4.2 Legitimate Interests

We process information for legitimate interests such as security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, service reliability, diagnostics, and product improvement, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

4.3 Consent

We ask for consent where required, such as notification permissions, optional communications, or other optional features that require consent under applicable law.

4.4 Legal Obligations

We process information when needed to comply with applicable laws, app-store requirements, accounting and tax obligations, safety reporting obligations, and lawful requests.

5. SHARING AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

5.1 Service Providers

We may share information with service providers that help operate the Service, including Firebase and Google Cloud for hosting, authentication, databases, storage, messaging, and backend functions; Apple App Store and Google Play for billing; RevenueCat or similar subscription infrastructure for entitlement management; and Google AdMob for in-app advertising where enabled.

5.2 App Family Sharing

Because Honk family apps share one backend and account model, profile, Friends, Terms acceptance, notification, and entitlement data may be visible or usable across multiple Honk family apps where needed to provide shared account functionality.

5.3 Legal, Safety, and Business Transfers

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the Service, to enforce our Terms, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

5.4 We Do Not Sell Personal Data

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party analytics tools in the app. Advertising, where enabled, may involve ad delivery, fraud prevention, and measurement by the ad provider under its own policies.

6. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

6.1 Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including account operation, safety workflows, support, fraud prevention, legal compliance, accounting, tax records, and backup retention.

6.2 Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account in app settings where available, or by emailing support@honkapp.eu with the subject "Account Deletion Request". We may need to verify your identity before deleting account data.

6.3 Limits on Deletion

Some information may be retained where required by law, for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting, tax compliance, or where deletion would harm the rights or safety of others.

7. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and European Union member states, depending on our service providers. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

8. SECURITY

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your device and account credentials.

9. CHILDREN AND SAFETY REPORTING

9.1 Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. Users between 13 and 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

9.2 Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation

We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation content or behavior. We may remove content, disable accounts, preserve relevant evidence, and report confirmed incidents to appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law.

10. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal information. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise rights, contact support@honkapp.eu.

11. COOKIES, LOCAL STORAGE, AND ADS

Our apps may use local device storage to maintain preferences, sessions, and app state. The website may use basic browser storage or hosting logs. Where ads are enabled, Google AdMob may process device identifiers and IP-based information for ad delivery, fraud prevention, and ad measurement.

12. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party sites or services.

13. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by applicable law or platform rules.

14. CONTACT INFORMATION
